Hosting a school event, community day or corporate function in Sydney? Choosing the right inflatable is only part of the planning. You also need to know that the equipment is properly set up, secured and managed throughout the event.

At Monsterball Sydney, we take a practical approach to inflatable safety. From site checks and anchoring to equipment inspections and user guidelines, our team works through the important details before your event gets underway.

Our Commitment to Inflatable Safety

When you hire an inflatable, you are trusting the equipment and the team setting it up. That’s why we focus on the details that can make a difference on event day.

Our safety process includes:
  • Regular equipment inspections and maintenance
  • Electrical safety checks
  • Appropriate anchoring for the setup surface
  • Site and access checks
  • Clear usage and capacity guidelines
  • Trained staff and operators where required
  • Public liability insurance and relevant safety documentation
We also maintain safety documentation, including logbooks, plant registrations, risk assessments and safe work procedures. Our team holds Working With Children Checks and is trained in safe setup and operation procedures.

Trained Setup and Site Checks

Setting up an inflatable safely starts before it is inflated.

Our crew checks the setup area for hazards and considers the surface, access, available space and anchoring requirements. Depending on the site, we can use suitable methods such as pegs, or sandbags..

Access is particularly important for larger school events and community events. Some inflatable equipment can weigh more than 200kg, so we need clear and practical access from the delivery vehicle to the setup area.

We also require at least 1 metre of additional clearance around the inflatable for the blower, access points and safe entry and exit.

Choosing the Right Inflatable for Your Event

The right inflatable can help make your school event a hit with students of all ages.

Our current Sydney school-event range includes:

Jumping castles – A straightforward option for younger students, school fetes and family-focused events.

Inflatable obstacle courses – A strong choice for sports days, reward days and events where older students want a more active challenge. Our current range includes Radical Run slide options and larger Mega Obstacle Run configurations.

Water slides – Suitable for appropriate outdoor events, particularly during warmer weather, provided the venue has the required space and water access.

For larger school events, combining different activities can also help cater for different age groups and keep students moving through the event rather than having everyone waiting for one attraction.

Supervision and Clear Usage Rules

Safety doesn’t stop once the inflatable has been installed.

Every inflatable has its own participant limits and usage requirements. We provide guidance around things such as:
  • Maximum participant numbers
  • Age and height suitability
  • Safe entry and exit
  • No shoes, food or drinks on the inflatable
  • No rough play, wrestling or flips
  • Appropriate supervision
Some attractions require more active supervision because of their size or level of activity. For example, high-activity obstacle courses such as Radical Run and Mega Obstacle Run may require an operator. We can also provide trained operators for events where additional supervision is needed.

If a school is providing its own volunteers, we’ll explain the relevant safety procedures during setup so nominated supervisors understand what is required.

Weather Matters in Sydney

Sydney weather can change quickly, particularly for outdoor events.

We monitor conditions and prioritise safety if the weather becomes unsuitable. Heavy rain, strong winds or storms can mean an inflatable needs to be temporarily shut down or deflated.

For outdoor events, we also recommend planning a suitable shaded area where kids can take a break, particularly during warmer weather.

Planning the event with weather in mind gives your event a better backup option if conditions change.

Safety for Different events

Every event has different requirements, so it’s important to choose inflatables that suit your venue, guests and planned activities.
  • Private parties: Consider the available space, the ages of your guests and the number of people likely to use each inflatable.
  • Corporate events: Allow enough room for guests to participate safely and ensure any required operators and supervision arrangements are confirmed.
  • Community events: Plan access, participant flow and suitable space around each attraction, particularly when expecting larger crowds.
  • Outdoor events: Check the surface, anchoring requirements and weather conditions before and during the event.
Before confirming your booking, our team can help you understand the setup requirements and safety considerations for your chosen attractions.

Yes. The anchoring method depends on the surface. We can use pegs on suitable grass or soil and sandbags where appropriate on hard surfaces.

How much clearance is needed around an inflatable?

We require at least 1 metre of additional clearance around the entire unit, along with the specific space requirements listed for each product.

Does Monsterball Sydney provide trained operators?

Yes. Trained operators can be provided for events where additional supervision is required. Some inflatables may also be suitable for self-supervision with appropriate guidance.

What happens if the weather becomes unsafe?

If heavy rain, strong winds or storms make conditions unsafe, our team may temporarily shut down or deflate the inflatable. Safety comes first.
